Men’s Hairstyles – Summer 2010

Ah yes! You read right. Men’s hairstyles. As opposed to women’s fashion, clothes and hair. This summer, it is all about men, and their crown of glory.
You might be stuck with the same hairstyle since the last ten years. Or you might be the guy who changes his style every time he glances at the mirror on the wall. Whoever you are, whatever you do, we are here to tell you what is the latest craze around the block, and what is definitely in.
The cool Brit look - The short back and sides, with length on top is the new child around the block. What counts, though, is texture and curl throughout. A slight demi-wave is one way to go for the cool look. This look is all about moving from fluffy textures to something with a bit more control for a refined and classy look.
Groomed, polished and blow-dried - The high-shine and almost brushed back look is way in – a nice change from the long fringes you’ve been seeing over the past few seasons.
Distressed, understated hairstyle - This summer calls for a more distressed look with loose unstructured styles, allowing men to give rein to their adventurous side. Hair will definitely be bigger with much more volume being concentrated in quiffs, as the great 80s revival continues.
Short and trendy – You want classy and sophisticated? Short hair is the answer. And the added bonus is that they are also easy to care during the hot summer. Go with your imagination. Bring variations, add color to your bangs, spice up your life – but yes, keep it short!
The ‘Buzz’ is that you rock – Yes. The buzz cut is definitely in this summer. With very short hair in the sides and longer on the top of the head, this hairstyle is pretty modern and ensures that you stay ‘cool’. Those of you guys who are busy round the clock, will also appreciate this cut for its ultra-low-maintenance and wash-and-go factor.
Long and textured – Long hair is in for the young boy inside you. Longer styles need a lot more work. It calls for sculpture, and regular use of styling creams for the classy maintained look you’ve been striving for.
Faux hawk for the rebel boys – Similar to the Mohawk of the 80s, this style is for the rebellious, but without shaving off the sides of the head. With a small but noticeable spike in the middle, it allows you to be a little edgy, without going too far. And if you are called to be a bit more conservative, you can just comb it to the side.
Caesar Cut – This is definitely for the young at heart. Bangs brushed forward and textured for an irreverent image with shorter backs and sides. You need to work on the rugged texture with a bit of wax, and yes, you definitely need to spend some extra time in the bathroom for this one.
Long or short, straight or curly, this summer is all about being you. Rock the town with your own style and let this summer be all about proclaiming who you really are, under all that mop of sexy hair.
