Amongst other aspects of life and life style, Beatles influenced most the men hairstyle of the contemporary individuals. The hairstyles went onto look like a hair mop to a bee-hive. Such hairdos remind a lot about the hippie culture too. People were so much enamored by the music and the persona of the Beatles that they adapted many things from them, hairstyles being one of them.
Young men were so impressed by Beatles that they instantly resorted to imitate them in order to flatter their idols. Men started growing their hair long to make their hairstyles look like that of Beatles. It was not that men did not grow their hair long prior to the influence of Beatles, but hair never overshot the ear length. The slick and polished men hairstyles simply vanished overnight and all that was seen around was long and lengthy hair.
Enthusiastic young men were often heard asking for ‘Beatle Cut’ from their hairdressers so that they could look modish just like the contemporary rage of Beatles. Youngsters sported longer locks. Hair look barely shortened even after spending considerable time and money into the hair saloon. While some of the Beatle-enthusiasts even had two feet long ponytails, others adorned their shoulder-length hair with great zest.
The Beatle haircut was known amongst the circle of hair dressers as ‘mop-top’. The hair length went on to become longer gradually thus becoming an exclusive fashion statement for all Beatles’ fans. By the year 1970s, long hairstyle became a standardized fashion norm for nifty men. The influence of Beatles also encouraged the production of Beatle-Wigs that could be worn any time and by anyone. In the times of sixties and seventies, sleek bob hairstyles gave way to Beatles inspired mop-tops that looked like enormous hair-crown.
Beatles also gave inspiration to many contemporary celebrities who adapted the fashionable long hairstyles. It also
brought in the hippie culture that was all about lengthy hair. Beatles also influenced women’s hairstyle by introducing them to high-crown hairdos such as the bouffant style, and the beehive hairstyle. The bouffant hairdo required women to pile up their hair over the crown of their head with sides flipping out.
The Beatles inspired mop-top men hairstyle could be worn by either gender and was considered very rebellious. It gave a shaggy appearance to hair and to the person. Bowl-style hair cuts also became well-liked, thanks to Beatles, making long and hippie styled hair very popular.
